How does the Registration process work?

These are the steps you need to take:

  1. Complete and submit the online registration. After completion of registration you will receive a confirmation message.
  2. A representative from your local New York State Career Center will contact you and invite you to come in for a skills survey. The survey will give us an overall picture of your abilities related to the occupations that are available.
  3. In order to apply for Advance Buffalo Job openings you are directed to contact your assigned New York State Department of Labor representative or send an email to advancebuffalo@labor.ny.gov with a resume that clearly indicates your skills and qualifications for the position. After attaching your resume you must include the Job Order Number in the Subject Line of the email, i.e. NY9991234.

What happens after the skills survey is completed?

You will be placed on one of two paths:

  1. If you meet the qualifications for a specific job opening, you will be referred directly to a business where your skills are needed.
  2. If you do not meet the qualifications, you will be matched with appropriate training. After you complete the training, you will be referred to job openings.
