Electricians Recruit Apprentices

Douglassville, PA (October 09, 2012) -

The Northeastern Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee will conduct a recruitment from October 10, 2012 through October 11, 2013 for 10 to 20 electrical (outside) line worker apprentices, State Labor Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Applications may be obtained at N.E.A.T., 1513 Ben Franklin Highway, Douglassville, PA, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications may also be obtained online at: http://www.neat1968.org/.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, hear, and understand instructions and warnings.
  • Must pass D.O.T. physical (at the sponsor's expense) - after offer of employment.
  • Must be able to crawl and work in confined spaces, such as attics, manholes, and crawl spaces.
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, poles and towers of various heights.
  • Must obtain a qualifying score on the NJATC Aptitude Test (score of 3 or higher) in order to be considered for an interview.
  • Must pass a drug test (at the sponsor's expense) at the time of selection.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and Commercial Driver's Permit, or Commercial Driver's License Class A or B, with air brake restriction removed to operate commercial vehicles.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to worksites anywhere within Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Special Instructions:  An aptitude test fee of $22 and a processing fee of $8 are required with all completed applications. Please note:  You may request a waiver of these fees.  Fee waivers will be approved upon showing verifiable proof of financial need.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
