Insulation and Asbestos Workers Recruit Apprentices

Rochester, NY (December 03, 2012) -

The Heat and Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local Union #26 will conduct a recruitment from December 6, 2012 through November 7, 2013, for five insulation and asbestos worker apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Applications may be obtained at Local Union #26, 4348 Culver Road, Suite 3, Rochester, NY from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the 1st Thursday of each month, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.    

Please Note:  Applicants must apply in person and complete application on premises.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work required, as determined by applicant's verbal statement on ability to climb ladders and lift up to 100 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must pass a physical exam, after acceptance, at the sponsor's expense.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites and related instruction.
  • Must be a United States citizen, or legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must reside in Local Union #26's geographic territory, which includes the counties of Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Livingston, Orleans, Genesee, Yates and Steuben.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
