Since January 2013, the number of nonfarm jobs (private plus public sectors) in New York State increased by 114,000, or 1.3 percent, and the number of private sector jobs increased by 119,600, or 1.7 percent. Additional industry detail is presented in the table below.
New York State's unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) was 7.3 percent in January 2014, down from 9.1 percent in January 2013.
