Amusement Device Detials

The New York State Department of Labor inspects all amusement devices on or before the scheduled start date of an event. Only those devices deemed safe are allowed to operate. Detailed inspection results for each individual device will be posted within two weeks of the event start date.

9/1/2017 Operational Inspections by DOL staff on four occasions; June 19, August 30, August 31, and September 1, 2017 showed a lack of supervision of all riders during operation. Specifically, operator and ride starter were distracted by operation and other duties45-2.15
45-2.15Signal systems for the starting and stopping of amusement devices shall be provided where the operator of the device does not have a clear view of the point at which passengers are loaded or unloaded. Any code of signals adopted shall be printed and kept posted at both the operators and signalmans stations. All persons who may use these signals shall be carefully instructed in their use. Signals for the movement or operation of an amusement device shall not be given until all passengers and other persons who may be endangered are in a position of safety.
