New engine programs are making for a dramatic production ramp-up, with the company planning to hire 80-100 additional team members over the next five years. The facility will be completely refurbished, adding more than $20 million in new advanced manufacturing equipment. Construction will begin in October 2014 and is expected to be completed by February 2016.
Arnprior Rapid Manufacturing Solutions Monroe 30 02-23-2014 The fabricated metal product manufacturer plans to invest more than $3.5 million into new technology and equipment and plans to add 30 new jobs.
Bausch & Lomb Monroe 120 09-09-2014 The eye-care company is installing two new Ultra contact lens manufacturing lines, which will add about 120 jobs to its Rochester plant. The lines are expected to be up and operational in 2015.
Brunner International Orleans 35 03-27-2014 The leading international producer of components for heavy-duty truck and trailers is expanding and will create 35 new jobs and retain 363 jobs, rather than relocate to other out-of-state locations, due to a $10 million venture with Empire State Development and the Orleans County Development Agency.
Cerion LLC Monroe 60 10-17-2014 The company, founded by a group of former Eastman Kodak Co. veteran engineers and scientists, specializes in the development, commercialization and industrial scale manufacturing of transformational, high-performance nanomaterials and plans to add 60 to 80 jobs over the next two years. The firm currently has 40 employees and expects 500 to 800 percent revenue growth over the next five to seven years.
CRC Polymer Systems, Inc. Wayne 27 02-05-2014 The plastics compounding company will expand in Sodus, adding 27 new jobs, at the former Garlock facility. The new location will incorporate advanced material development, compounding and distribution of product from bulk railcar as well as packaged goods.
Crosman Corp. Ontario 25 08-27-2014 Due to the approval of free-trade-zone status, the airgun maker in East Bloomfield will be able to import parts and make guns in Ontario County. As a result, the company is moving some production stateside and adding 25 jobs over the next three years to make airguns with Chinese and domestic parts.
Datto Inc. Monroe 77 06-04-2014 The Connecticut-based company, which provides computer data backup and disaster recovery services and products, will move into part of RIT’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship building in Rochester. The company will hire 77 new workers, including engineers, software developers and customer service representatives.
Emmi Roth USA Yates 50 07-23-2014 The producer of premium specialty cheeses and dairy products will add 50 jobs as it expands its yogurt manufacturing facility in Penn Yan, Yates County. The company plans to spend $11.6 million to purchase equipment and expand its existing structure. Some of the new jobs will go to their office in Orangeburg, Rockland County.
Finger Lakes Business Accelerator Cooperative Monroe 1,000 09-09-2014 High Tech Rochester’s Finger Lakes Business Accelerator Cooperative will locate in the former Sibley’s department store in downtown Rochester. It is estimated that the Business Accelerator will create more than 1,000 new jobs – in the forms of new business creation or expansion – in the first five years of operation. The initial phases of The Sibley Building’s redevelopment are projected to create more than 900 jobs.
Goodwill of the Finger Lakes Monroe 110 02-11-2014 The company is looking to fill 110 open positions from entry-level to management, including 40 full- and part-time retail positions for a new Rochester-area store and other openings in food service, manufacturing and social work.
Hickey Freeman Co. Monroe 50 05-06-2014 Under contract with Polo Ralph Lauren, the company will manufacture Polo Ralph Lauren’s “Blue Label” line of tailored suits and sport jackets. The line has been made in Italy, but is being brought to Rochester as part of Lauren’s “Made in the USA” initiative. The work is expected to begin next month. The deal and others to come could boost production and add up to 50 jobs in the next three years.
ITT Goulds Pumps Seneca 50 08-05-2014 The company opened a new $22 million test and production facility in Seneca Falls. About 860 people worked on the site before the expansion and about 50 new jobs will be added for mostly manufacturing-related activities such as equipment operators, assemblers, shippers, machinists and supervisors. About a third of the positions will be engineers. The expansion will help the company fill an increasing demand for pumps used in oil, gas and mining industries.
Mercury Print Monroe 11 03-06-2014 The Rochester commercial printing company is relocating its operations, installing new equipment and adding 11 positions now and likely another nine or 10 jobs during 2014.
Mott's LLP Wayne 20 08-13-2014 The company is embarking on a multi-million dollar expansion at its Williamson production facility. The project includes the addition of new manufacturing lines, updated machinery and renovations at the plant. The expansion will create 20 jobs and allow the company to produce it fast-growing Mott’s Snack & Go pouches.
New York Power Electronics Manufacturing Consortium Monroe 500 07-17-2014 The state, along with a consortium of semiconductor manufacturers, will jointly create the New York Power Electronics Manufacturing Consortium, to be located in Greece and Albany. The Greece (Monroe County) facility, which will act as an R&D site for companies, is expected to employ 500 when it opens in the summer of 2015.
North Shore Project Ontario 175 08-05-2014 With $1.5 million designated through the 2013 Regional Economic Development Council process and an additional $1.5 million in state assistance, a local lakeshore initiative will transform 21 acres of dilapidated property in Canandaigua into residential, retail and commercial space. The project is expected to create 175 permanent jobs and 400 construction jobs.
P.W. Minor & Son Genesee 17 08-14-2014 Two Batavia businessmen have purchased the 147-year old shoe company, allowing it to remain in business. The company will retain more than 50 manufacturing jobs, as well as create 17 additional jobs.
Ranger Design Wayne 62 04-09-2014 The commercial van outfit manufacturer plans to invest $3 million to open a manufacturing facility, final assembly and U.S. distribution center in Wayne County, creating 62 jobs.
Retrotech Inc. Monroe 23 02-13-2014 The engineering firm in Victor, Ontario County is moving to a larger facility in Henrietta, Monroe County. The company is undergoing a $3 million expansion, retaining 87 existing jobs and creating 23 new jobs over the next three years.
Scepter Inc. Seneca 20 09-03-2014 The Seneca Falls aluminum recycling operation facility is expanding and hiring an additional 10 to 20 workers. Due to Ford Motor Company’s decision to switch from steel to aluminum body parts in its 2015 F-150 trucks, the company plans to add a third furnace and baghouse to its existing facilities, increasing recycled aluminum production by 50 percent.
United States Gypsum Company Genesee 12 06-02-2014 The company will make a significant capital investment to upgrade its paper mill operations in Genesee County by investing in machinery upgrades and utility improvements, ensuring the future of the paper mill and retaining 98 jobs in addition to creating 12 new positions. The plant makes the paper for the “back side” of wallboard.
Verizon Wireless Monroe 280 03-18-2014 The company plans to add 280 full-time jobs over the next few months. The company’s Henrietta call center will be adding 260 customer care positions, and 20 retail positions will be spread over seven locations in Rochester-area stores.
Verizon Wireless Monroe 200 10-22-2014 The company is looking to add about 200 people in the coming months at its Henrietta call center. The hiring is for full-time customer service and technical support positions. The company, which employs roughly 1,300 in Monroe County, plans to add 75 positions by year’s end.

MVP Health Care Monroe 19 03-03-2014 Rochester’s second-largest health insurer eliminated 19 local positions as part of a company-wide workforce reduction.
Xerox Corp. Seneca 123 08-20-2014 The company is planning to eliminate 123 positions from its workforce by mid-November as it closes its facilities maintenance operations in Webster and outsources the work to Chicago-based commercial real estate services company JLL. The affected jobs are related to providing maintenance and cleaning for Webster’s R&D and manufacturing campus.
