1366 Technologies Genesee 1,000 10-07-2015 The manufacturer of technologies for the solar energy industry is building a manufacturing facility in the Science Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP) in Genesee County. The company develops and manufactures high performance silicon wafers, the building block of solar cells and most expensive component of a solar panel. Construction of the manufacturing facility will require two phases during which the company will create at least 600 new, full-time jobs over the next five years. The company plans to eventually create more than 1,000 new jobs in the Finger Lakes Region.
Alstrom Monroe 30 02-04-2015 The rail transportation equipment maker is looking to fill more than 30 positions in such areas as product design, signal engineering, testing, electrical and software. Alstrom employs close to 500 locally. Its Henrietta facility is home of its North American signaling business, making switches, relays and other systems for controlling trains.
American Rock Salt Livingston 55 01-13-2015 The company, the largest operating salt mine in the United States, will extend its rail siding operations at its Mt. Morris facility, retaining 300 jobs and creating 55 new positions. The $2 million project will extend its current rail siding by 1,500 feet, allowing faster and more efficient transportation of de-icing salt during periods when demand is high.
ClearCove Systems Monroe 23 01-08-2015 The New York State incubator graduate from Venture Creations in Rochester is a renewable energy company that has developed patented solutions that transform wastewater treatment plants into renewable energy resources and creates economic development for their local community. The company plans to implement its first full-scale operation in Steuben County by early summer 2015. They will locate their headquarters at the RIT downtown campus, Monroe County, and create 23 new jobs.
Columbia Care Monroe 195 07-31-2015 The limited liability company based in New York City was awarded one of five licenses to manufacture and distribute medical marijuana and will have its operations at Eastman Business Park in Greece. The project will create 195 permanent jobs and renovation of the Kodak facility will create another 50 jobs.
Creative Food Ingredients Wyoming 56 01-08-2015 The Canadian-owned manufacturer of cookies, cookie parts and cookie crumbs, will construct a 75,000 square foot addition to its facility in Perry and add 56 employees to its 130-person workforce. Construction is expected to begin this month.
Darien Lake Genesee 2,000 03-11-2015 The theme park is looking to hire 2,000 seasonal employees for the coming season. Positions are available in food service, park services, ride operations, retail, accommodations and campground housekeeping. Other opportunities are available in games, gift shop sales, aquatic operations, skilled trades and park maintenance, entertainment, guest services, security and safety.
Frontier Communication Corp. Monroe 350 04-21-2015 To accommodate customers using the company’s new wireline assets, the company will expand its call center facility in Henrietta and add as many as 350 new jobs over the next three years. The employees will provide technical assistance to customers having trouble with their internet services.
Harris RF Communications Monroe 100 07-15-2015 The company will invest about $1.5 million in new equipment and $500,000 in renovations at its Jefferson Road operations center for a new military radio production line. As many as 100 jobs in manufacturing, engineering, management and administrative support will be added during the next 12 months.
Integrated Photonics Institute for Manufacturing Innovation Monroe 6,000 07-27-2015 Rochester has been chosen as the national headquarters for a photonics hub that will be launched with more than $600 million in federal, state, university and industry investment. Photonics involves the use of light in robotics, medical imaging, national security and other fields. The photonics center is expected to bring an estimated 6,000 jobs to the area.
Love Beets USA, LLC Monroe 50 04-28-2015 The gourmet beet company, a Rochester-based joint manufacturing venture for the processing and packaging of fresh, marinated and organic beets and beet products between LiDestri Foods Inc. of Fairport and G’s Fresh Ltd. of the United Kingdom, will produce its popular product in Rochester and expand distribution throughout the U.S. The newly formed company is slated to begin operations in November 2015 and create 50 new full-time positions by year’s end, increasing employment to 140 within five years.
Maines Food & Party Warehouse Monroe 60 10-19-2015 The Broome County-based food distributor has opened in Greece and has created about 60 jobs. The store offers restaurant-quality food at warehouse prices. They are also working on a Henrietta location to open sometime in early 2016.
O-AT-KA Milk Products Cooperative, Inc. Genesee 24 09-10-2015 The dairy cooperative will be expanding their warehouse and material handling functions. A new warehousing facility and equipment room will allow the cooperative to grow its production and create 24 new full-time positions within three years, raising total employment to over 350 positions.
OLEDWorks LLC Monroe 100 06-09-2015 The U.S. light engine and panel manufacturing company will expand in Rochester, investing $73.6 million and creating 100 new jobs over the next five years. The company, which uses organic light emitting diode technology, is nearing completion of its development phase and is entering the first phase of manufacturing where it expects to manufacture significant quantities of lighting devices.
Once Again Livingston 5 10-05-2015 The organic peanut butter company is building a production facility in Nunda that will make its peanut products only. Due to the rising number of people with peanut allergies, the company is building this plant so that its other butters won’t accidentally get peanut butter residue attached while being made and packed in their existing facility. The company is looking to hire five employees for the peanut-only plant. Construction is scheduled to be completed in early November.
Optimax Wayne 30 01-09-2015 The Wayne County-based optics manufacturer is looking to add 30 technicians and engineers this year. The company manufactures precision optical components for a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, semiconductor, military and medical instruments.
Precision Optical Transceivers Inc. Monroe 8 03-04-2015 The manufacturer of optical transceivers and accessories used in cable and telecommunications networks has developed proprietary Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory coding technology and production processes to enable the rapid delivery of transceivers to customers. The company will create eight new jobs. They are currently operating in Brockport, Monroe County, and will locate the new employees at the SUNY Brockport MetroCenter in Rochester.
Pride Pak Canada Ltd. Orleans 200 11-05-2015 Canada’s largest fresh fruit and vegetable processor, which packs fresh-cut vegetables for other companies, including Wegmans Food Market, has begun construction on a 68,000 square-foot facility in the Medina Business Park. The company plans to create an estimated 200 new jobs. The facility in Medina is expected to be completed in spring 2016 with processing to begin in June 2016.
PW Minor Genesee 100 04-07-2015 The manufacturer and international distributor of leather footwear and orthopedic products will bring previously outsourced production work from China back to New York State. The move will create 100 additional jobs at the company’s Batavia facility.
Sutherland Global Services Monroe 200 05-27-2015 The business process and technology management services provider is recruiting to hire 200 new workers. The available positions include customer service specialists, sales consultants and technical support specialists.
The Bonadio Group Monroe 20 01-15-2015 The accounting firm has made 20 new hires at its Perinton office. The company employs about 250 in the Rochester area.
United States Postal Service Monroe 300 09-09-2015 The Postal Service is looking to fill 300 holiday positions at two Rochester-area plants. Employees can expect to work from November 14, 2015 through January 8, 2016.
Xerox Corp. Monroe 54 05-26-2015 The company has completed a $35 million copier toner plant expansion that will create 54 new jobs. The project will increase the company’s emulsion aggregation toner capacity by 40 percent. In addition to the 54 new jobs created by the expanded plant, the project generated about 70 full-time construction jobs over the past 15 months.
Xerox Corp. Monroe 200 12-04-2015 The company plans to fill roughly 200 positions at its Webster customer care center, including manager-level positions and customer care agents. About 600 work at the customer care center, which opened in 2012.

Dayton Rogers Monroe 35 03-24-2015 The metal forming and prototype manufacturing company plans to let go of 35 of the 39 workers at its Gates plant by June 2015.
Durham School Services Monroe 142 05-04-2015 The Illinois-based transportation service is shuttering its Rochester location and will lay off 142 employees, many being part-time drivers and bus monitors. The transportation company provides busing services for Rochester City School District students with disabilities. The layoffs and plant closing are scheduled to take effect by July 23, 2015.
Getinge Monroe 80 06-04-2015 The international infection control company will shut down its production facility in Henrietta and move work to Poland, eliminating 80 jobs. The move is part of a plan to consolidate manufacturing and cut expenses. Sales and distribution operations will remain at the Henrietta site.
Heluva Good! Wayne 53 04-20-2015 The cheese packaging plant and store in Wayne County is closing in June 2015, affecting 53 people at its plant and six store employees.
JPMorgan Chase Monroe 50 01-30-2015 The banking giant, one of the area’s largest employers in the finance industry, plans to cut more than 350 jobs later this year. The positions will be eliminated in late summer or early fall from its mortgage banking operations. The cuts come as its mortgage modification work , as well as mortgage refinancing in general, is down.
Maximus Inc. Monroe 52 02-06-2015 The Virginia-based provider of health and human services lost a contract for Medicare appeals and is laying off 52 employees at its Pittsford site in April. The positions being eliminated include professional nurse reviewers, technical adjudicators and operations support staff. The company will maintain a total staff of 400 people in the Rochester area.
Muller Quaker Dairy Genesee 64 12-11-2015 The plant, a joint venture between the Quaker Oats Company, the Muller Company and PepsiCo., has closed. The facility has been sold to the Dairy Farmers of America, a milk cooperative, who has a plant in Avon, Livingston County. About 64 of the plant’s 170 jobs were laid off immediately.
Orafol International Inc. Monroe 27 10-15-2015 The company is closing its Rochester display films business by the end of the year, affecting 27 employees. The closing will allow the German-based firm to focus more on its core business in graphics, reflective sheeting and adhesives markets.
SentrySafe Monroe 350 06-25-2015 The company will shut down its Pittsford plant and move the 350 jobs there to Mexico and Wisconsin. The migration will take place in phases beginning in January 2016 and the company is planning to cease operations by June 2016.
