The unemployment rate in the Utica-Rome MSA increased from 4.1 percent in November 2019 to 5.6 percent in November 2020. The unemployment rate declined from 6.0 percent in October.
Change in Nonfarm Jobs since November 2019
For the 12-month period ending November 2020, the nonfarm job count in the Utica-Rome MSA decreased 9,500, or 7.4 percent, to 119,700. Private sector employment fell 7,300, or 7.5 percent, to 89,800.
Job losses were posted in: education and health services (-2,900), government (-2,200), leisure and hospitality (-1,300), natural resources, mining, and construction (-800), trade, transportation, and utilities (-800), manufacturing (-600), professional and business services (-500), other services (-300), and information (-100).
