Insurance Consultant Life

Description:

A Consultant provides expert and professional advice on insurance. Licensed Consultants cannot sell, solicit or negotiate an insurance policy as to do so would require licensing as an Agent or Broker.

Life Consultants are authorized to provide clients with expert advice on the following lines of insurance:

  • Life Insurance
  • Annuities
  • Accident & Health

Prelicensing Requirements:

To qualify for a license, the licensing candidate must pass, within 2 years of applying for the license, the licensing exam administered by PSI Services.

Exceptions from the examination requirements:

A candidate for the Life Consultant license who holds a Chartered Life Underwriter designation or is an Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries is exempt from the exam requirement.

Fees and Renewal Period

Licenses are issued for up to 2 years. Individual/tba licenses will be issued with an expiration date determined by the applicant’s date of birth:

If you were born in an even numbered year, your license will expire on your birthday in an even numbered year.
If you were born in an odd numbered year, your license will expire on your birthday in an odd numbered year.

All licensing fees are non-refundable. A full fee of $100 is charged when a license is issued for a licensing period of more than one year; a half fee of $50 is charged when a license is issued for a period of one year or less.
